Partner Highlight: Farming Tales

If you’ve been following us for a while, you know how much we love interoperability and how it will ultimately allow us to connect two opposite worlds; TradFi and DeFi. The same truth is even within the crypto-sphere, where projects from two opposite ends of the ecosystem can come together over one shared goal, connecting the physical world to the blockchain. We are happy to announce Rebus’ second platform partner, Farming Tales, a 3D Crypto game connecting the agricultural world with the blockchain with NFT and Metaverse integration. In Farming Tales, NFTs represent actual products from real farms, connecting the two different worlds. Here’s what founder Nicolò Vergani had to say about the project and his reasoning for partnering with Rebus.

Q: Tell us about your background. What led you to now?

A: Farming Tales was born from the desire of our team to create a project that could finally connect the technological world of the blockchain with the more rural one of agriculture. In fact, some team members manage real farms located in Italy, with the initial idea being to integrate these farms within the blockchain world. The great success that the project had during its early stages of life then prompted us to create the 3D game.

Q: Tell us about Farming Tales. What value(s) does it deliver?

A: The most important value of Farming Tales is that because we have created NFTs associated with real-world products, they represent the actual ownership of a tangible product for users. In our case, each NFT is an agricultural product, allowing anyone to feel like a farmer, with each NFT redeemable for a real product.

Q: Linking digital NFTs to real-world goods. How does this work?

A: Mainly in two ways: through NFTs, users can become owners of tangible assets from our real farms, such as hives and pieces of land; these assets produce their owners a certain amount of products, which are “delivered” in the form of NFTs. These products can be shipped home or traded as NFTs to be redeemed by someone else. A real farmer follows these same practices, just not with NFTs.

On the other hand, users who do not own assets can use other NFTs to manipulate the owners’ assets, paying them a small fee.

Q: How do you position yourself in the market? What are your biggest challenges?

A: The main objective of Farming Tales is to regain the first position in the ranking of projects on WAX. It is not an easy goal: we have had our fifteen minutes of fame, and now it is rightfully the turn of other younger projects. However, we believe that with upcoming updates regarding our 3D game, there will be a lot of interest surrounding our project.

Q: It seems like you have multiple target audiences at play–players, farmers, distributors, etc. Who is involved, and what value does each get from Farming Tales?

We have people from all corners of the ecosystem. Most users are interested in 3D gaming, which is likely to offer quick earning prospects. We also have a growing number of people interested in tangible assets, mainly from Europe and North America. I believe that the most significant value is being able to consider themselves farmers, even without owning a real farm.

Q: Which other options do your clients have, and why do they come to you?

A: Another option we give our players is to challenge their friends in our metaverse. We are building a multiplayer town in which players will be able to see their friends, trade, and compete in numerous mini-games.

Q: When did you first start looking at blockchain/crypto/DeFi, and why?

A: I started looking at the blockchain several years ago. Initially, I mainly experienced it as a user. In recent years, however, the desire to enter this world as a protagonist grew considerably, to invent something strange and funny. From here, Farming Tales was born.

Q: What is your vision of where the blockchain/crypto/DeFi market is going?

A: I think we still have many years of adjustment before we can see the final shape of the blockchain world. Most products (but also consumers themselves) are not yet sufficiently mature. However, I am convinced that this world will be the future, even if we must all be very good at avoiding fanaticism.

Q: What are the typical reactions you get when talking about your project?

A: It depends. People already in this world are often fascinated by it and, like us, recognize the great potential of a project capable of connecting real life to the blockchain. Those not interested or who don’t know the basics of crypto and blockchain are much harder to talk to. They hardly understand the meaning of all this.

Q: How did you first come across Rebus, and what was immediately attractive?

A: We got in touch with Rebus thanks to our mutual friendships with the development team. I greatly appreciated the commitment and transparency of the team, and as one of Farming Tales’ declared goals is to become multi-chain, we immediately thought this could be a great opportunity.

Q: What about Rebus made you a partner? How do you evaluate such a relationship?

A: We were impressed with their experience, commitment, and transparency as a team. On our native blockchain, although we all know each other, there is not a very high degree of collaboration between projects and management, unfortunately.

Partnering with Rebus changes this. The Cosmos is one of, if not the most, interoperability ecosystem we’ve seen, the opposite of our native chain.
